When Andrei slipped back into their quarters, everything was dark. As quietly as possible, he crept into the bathroom, undressed, and showered. Ogrufina was a heavy sleeper, fortunately, so he wasn’t too worried about waking her.

As he climbed under the covers, though, she stirred.

“What time is it?” she murmured.

“Late.” He settled in beside her and put his arm over her waist. “Go back to sleep, Grushka.”

“You were at the gym, weren’t you?”

“Mm-hmm.” He kissed the back of her shoulder. “I was teaching Lieutenant Commander West to box.”

“Were you?” She trailed her fingers down his forearm. “And was he an . . . apt pupil?”

Andrei laughed softly. “He’ll need work. Or perhaps I’ve just been spoiled with you as a sparring partner.”

Ogrufina laughed too. “Hmm, maybe you have been. But he can learn, yes?”

“Of course.”

“You like him, don’t you?”

“I barely know him.”

She laughed, pressing back against him. “You don’t need to know him to know if you want to take him to bed.”

Andrei grinned against the side of her neck. “And you know me too well, don’t you?”

“Of course I do.” She put her hand on his arm. “Did the two of you settle your differences?”

“Mm-hmm.” He nuzzled her neck, her hair tickling his cheek. “Like two boys in a schoolyard.”

Though he couldn’t see her face, her grin was palpable. “And now that you little boys have settled things, what do you intend to do?”

“Not sure yet.” He dragged his lower lip across her skin, grinning when she shivered. “But he looked at me the way only a few men have.”

“So you think he’s—”

“Oh yes. I do.”

“Even though he’s a pilot?”

Andrei exhaled across the side of her neck. “Pilots are difficult to avoid here. I should’ve known . . .”

“Mm-hmm.” She reached back and ran her fingertips along the shaved side of his head. “Do you think you can seduce him?”

“Think I can?” He chuckled, running his hand up the front of her thin T-shirt. “Printsessa, you know me. Once I spot a target, he’s going down.” He kissed her neck, letting his chin graze her skin until she shivered. “Except somehow I doubt his wife is as accommodating as mine.”

Ogrufina laughed softly and tilted her head, exposing more of her neck. “Pity.”

“It is.” He nibbled his way up to her ear. “But if he is like me—” he paused, nipping her ear just hard enough to make her gasp “—and she knows, then . . .”

“Then she’d be a fool not to let him have a man.” She whimpered softly and wriggled against him. “Especially you.”

He grinned against her skin. “You might be a little biased, my love.”

“Maybe I am.” She reached back and slid her hand down the side of his leg. “It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?” She squeezed his leg, digging her nails in enough to make him groan. “Since you’ve touched a man?”

“Much too long.” He ran his hand up to her chest and cupped her breast through her shirt. It never ceased to amaze
